Weekly Recap

This week was another up and down story for the Bears throughout the program.  All three teams were in action again and showed signs of improvement, but not at the cost of some disappointment as well.

The Freshman Bears took on the Eastern Eagles and Male Bulldogs this week, both very good programs.  Despite improvement in all aspects of the game the Bears came up short in both contest and fell to 0-4 on the season.

On the JV level the Bears battle through two tough losses to Eastern and Male, while rallying for a victory at Oldham Co.  The Bears got a great some great efforts on the mound throughout the week but the offense couldn't execute at times.  The JV Bears hold steady at 3-3 on the season.

Meanwhile the Varsity Bears weathered through two rainouts and still managed to play three games this week.  After, a big victory against Eastern on Tuesday 3-2 the Bears didn't play again until Saturday in the Watt/Driskell Memorial at Male.  In the first game of the double-header the Bears road the wave of some offensive fire-power and three homeruns to take down South Oldham.  In the second game, the Bears could not overcome multiple mental and physical mistakes and gave the game to the Bulldogs in extra innings.  On the season the Bears are now 4-2.

Look for the Bears in action this week around the city.  This weekend the Varsity will travel to Danville, KY for the Constitution Classic.  The Team Hotel information is listed below.  Also, join the Bears next week as all levels will be in action during their Spring Break.  Schedules for all tournaments can be found under the regular season schedule tabs.  Milan Perpich Field will play host for multiple games a day during the Derby City Classic.

Today's Games Rained Out

Today's Varsity and JV games at Fern Creek have been rained out.  All players on all levels will have today off and can go home after school.

As of now, tomorrow's games are on as scheduled.  If there is any change we will send an update ASAP.  Tomorrow the Varsity and JV team will wear the same uniform they were going to wear tonight.  The bus for the JV game is scheduled to leave school tomorrow at 3:45 for Oldham Co.  Varsity will report at 3:00 and prepare to commute to Moore at 3:30 p.m.  The Freshman will have practice tomorrow after school 2:45-5:00 p.m.

Also, if you ordered a Navy Blue Hooded Sweat-shirt or T-shirt, those have come in (orders were taken at Pre-Season Meeting).  Over the past two days our managers have put those orders in individual plastic bags per the Players Name that was listed at the top of the Order Forms and included the Red Hat's if those were ordered.  Those Varsity Players we had Order Forms with their names on them were given their bags yesterday.  JV and Freshman players may pick them up today after school from the office (Coach Crawford will open the office after school today) or tomorrow.  As for the Ball Bags and the remainder of the Player Pack for those who sold fence signs, those still have not come in.  Please note that as soon as items come in we distribute them as quickly as possible.  We do not have enough storage space to hold items, so players will get them with-in a day of them coming in and us being able to organize them.

Weekly Recap

This past week was the opening week of the 2015 season for the Bears.  Each team was able to get in multiple games even with some raining days/nights.

The Freshman Bears opened their season at St. Xavier High School on Wednesday night resulting in a loss.  After getting rained out on Friday the Bears traveled to Collins on Saturday where they came up a little short again, falling to 0-2 on the season.

The Junior Varsity Bears opened their season this past Tueday night in a double-header with the Varsity team against North Bullitt.  Tuesday the Bears jumped out to an early lead and never looked back winning 8-1.  The next night the Bears traveled to St. Xavier where a strong effort on the mound wasn't enough to hold off the Tigers and the Bears fell to 1-1 on the season.  Closing out the week Saturday against Anderson County the Bears were able to overcome some defensive errors and surge to a walk-off win moving them to 2-1.

The Varsity Bears got off to a good start in the 2015 season by avenging the loss that ended their 2014 season in the 6th region championship game to North Bullitt.  After coming from behind to beat the Tigers on Tuesday, the Bears let one slip away to the Bruins of Ballard Thursday.  A late inning lead got away from the Bears and they suffered their first loss.  On Saturday the Bears were able to end the week on a positive note getting a quality win against Anderson County at home.  This was a complete game and effort in all phases by the Bears and it moved them to 2-1 on the young season.

Saturday March 14th!

We are pleased to announce that they were able to deliver our mulch yesterday afternoon.  Due to that we are going to plan on delivering to our customers this Saturday March 14th starting at 8:00 a.m.  As of now we are scheduled to play a Freshman DH that day as well.  The Freshman will plan on reporting to North Bullitt at the designated time Coach Crawford gives them.  However, if we are rained out (big front coming in Friday-Sat. morning) the Freshman will also participate in Mulch Delivery / Field Work.  As soon as we get word from North Bullitt on the status of Saturday we will pass along to everyone.

We are also going to prepare our facility for the season on Saturday.  A job-list will be posted by the coaches and a crew of players will be assigned those jobs as they are supervised by some of the coaching staff.  We encourage any Family members who can assist with these jobs to participate, as we will need all hands on deck due to us trying to "divide and conquer" both Mulch and Field Prep.

Anyone in the Work Party Saturday (Mulch or Field Work) will need to report to the Track around the Football Field at 8:00 a.m.  Those with Trucks and Trailers who will be assisting in deliveries can access the Track from the Gate off Garrs Ln.  This will be the Entrance/Exit and Loading area for those vehicles.  Lastly, below I have listed some materials we will need to assist with the work on our facility.  If you can provide any of these it would be greatly appreciated.

Let me know if you have any questions and everyone keep your fingers crossed the weather the rest of this year is not as crazy as it has been lately!

Materials/Tools Needed
-Zip Ties
-Snips (cutting tools)
-Cleaning Supplies (Bathroom & Kitchen)
-Paint Brushes / Rollers
-Weed Eaters

Mulch Delivery Postponed

Due to the weather over the last few days we are going to have to postpone our Mulch Delivery Day.  The company we have ordered the mulch from can not get their trucks out safely with the conditions the way they have been.  We are to contact them early next week, once things have thawed out, to setup a new delivery.  If we can get the Mulch to the school in the middle of next week their may be some deliveries that our made by the coaching staff and board members during the week.  The plan as of now is to have Sophomore, Junior, and Senior families participate in the bulk of the delivery next Saturday 3/14.  Our Freshman team will be involved in a Double-header at North Bullitt that day and as of today those games will go on as scheduled.  We apologize for the inconvenience but we are at the mercy of the weather.  Please make those friends and family who may be expecting delivery tomorrow know of these changes.

Mulch Sale - We Deliver!!!

We have added a new fundraiser this year which could be HUGE for our program; Mulch Sales!  In the fall you may remember seeing this on the list of fundraisers we distributed for this 2014-15 season.  Above is our order form with all the information you need to know about the products we are offering and where customers can return the form.  Once our order is placed (Orders Due Feb. 20th) we will need ALL hands on deck for delivery on Sat. March 7th!  More details about the delivery date will be covered at our Pre-Season Meeting on Thursday Feb. 19.  For now please distribute this form to friends and family and we hope each player reaches the goal of selling 100 bags!  The product should sell itself since many people purchase mulch for their homes annually.  Please emphasize that WE DELIVER to customers.  The prices are competitive with local businesses but we will bring the product to them!  Look over the attachment and the summary of information below.  Again feel free to let myself or our Booster Representatives know if you have any questions.
