Program Update

As all of you are aware by now, our regular season for all levels has come to a close.  I would like to thank all of those volunteers and family members who helped make this another successful season for all of our players in our program.  We could not run this program without the support of our families off the field.  As a staff we have enjoyed the opportunity to coach and teach these young men and to watch them grow throughout the year.  We look forward to continued success in the future!

The JV and Freshman players will turn in their uniforms tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Butler.  The Varsity is in post-season action tonight at DeSales at 5:00 p.m. against Doss in the 22nd District Semi-Final match-up.  The Championship will be Wed. night at 5:00 p.m. at DeSales and the winner of the District Championship will host the first round of the 6th Region Tournament next Monday May 25th at 11:00 a.m.  We invite all out to the ballpark tonight and to follow us as we move into post-season play.

their spot.  Coach Morgan will be reaching out to those who register with more information before play begins next month.  Soph-Juniors will not begin Summer Ball action until after the Dead Period (June 25-July 9).  Coach Brooks will be in contact with them with those details.

Banquet - More information (ticket sales, time, etc.) about our End of the Year Banquet will be going out shortly from our Boosters.  We encourage all family members to attend as we celebrate the 2015 season on Wed. June 10th at the Fern Valley Hotel and Conference Center.

Program Update

It is that time of year again where we are closing out our regular season and moving into post-season play for our Varsity and Summer Ball for our younger group.  However, before we get there we have some changes to our schedule this week due to the projected weather this weekend.  Tomorrow we will only play a Varsity game vs Southern and it will begin at 6:00 p.m.  This will also be our Senior Night, with those festivities beginning at 5:40 prior to the start and then a Picnic/Dinner after the game for those players and their families.  The JV game for tomorrow has been moved to Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Southern.  All JV/F players are encouraged to stick around after practice tomorrow to share in celebrating our 2015 Seniors.

5/13 Wed.
6:00 p.m. Butler vs Southern (Senior Night-5:40)

5/14 Thur.
7:30 p.m. Butler @ Southern (JV)

Also, our Freshman received some information yesterday concerning Summer Ball.  We are going to play in an Instructional League with our younger group this summer.  Coach Owens at Bellarmine will be hosting it and through all of our conversation about it I think this will be very beneficial for our guys.  He has hosted leagues like this in the different places he has coached and the reviews have been great.  The schedule for this league allows for players to still play with other teams on the weekends and leaves the "Dead Period" (June 25-July 9) open.  Our older group will not begin Summer Ball until after the Dead Period and Coach Brooks (previously coached at Butler under Coach Lauder) will be running that team.  Starting after the Dead Period puts the emphasis of our guys on our Post-Season run we have in front of us, as well as, allows guys to play with other teams or families to travel prior to the start.  Coach Brooks will be in contact with those players once our season has concluded.

Program Round-up

As we move into the last two weeks of the regular season and the month of May all three teams are looking to gain some momentum.

The Freshman Bears have picked up key wins over Bullitt East and Manual, as well as, some big victories across the river in Indiana in the past few weeks.  Their overall record now stands at 5-11 but that does not indicate the improvement this group has made throughout the season.  This week will present another tough task with four games, including tonight at rival PRP.

The Junior Varsity Bears have managed to get their record back to .500 at 9-9 after a dramatic walk-off win against Bullitt East this past Friday.  Over the past few weeks the JV Bears have had some key wins but also suffered some tough losses.  This week will test them as they play host to three tough opponents and travel to J-town tomorrow.

The Varsity Bears have picked up several key wins over the past few weeks but can't seem to gain any momentum as they have also dropped some tough contests as well.  The Bears avenged an extra inning loss to Male last week and knocked off the #2 ranked North Oldham Mustangs but then turned around to lose the next game after each.  This week will test the Bears again as they start a six game road trip
at rival PRP tonight.

Also, the Bears Summer Ball information will be released soon.  Those incoming Freshman who are interested in playing baseball please check back for Tryout Information.

Today's Schedule - Rained Out

Due to the rain in the area throughout the morning and the expected storms this afternoon, all games at Milan Perpich Field in the Louisville Invitational Tournament have been canceled for today.  Also, the JV Invitational at Dunbar has been canceled today due to the weather.

The Alumni Day has been rescheduled for Saturday May 16th, as the Bears are scheduled to take on the Manual Crimsons at 12 p.m.  This will accompany our Senior Day activities, helping bring exposure to the accomplishments of this year's senior class.  We look forward to seeing our Alumni and Senior families at the ball park!
